>starting this past fall, a small group of activist nerds in nyc have been getting together to hash out theories and strategies for resistance and rebellion.
our readings are organized around questions of "violent" and "non-violent" approaches to social change. the reading group is an attempt to challenge received notions that valorize pacifism and demonize those who engage in armed resistance; we are tired of the uncritical propagation of tenets such as "violence begets violence." the group also hopes to challenge romanticized visions of the third world guerilla fighter that fuel too many ill-conceived, imperialist activist fantasies.
this sections offers a list of readings and films we've encountered, with comments from group members. check us out by clicking here.
